Morning everyone, another beautiful day up here today.

Please take note that the Ade Waddell Memorial Round 1 that was to commence on the 25th June for the men has now been change to start on the 9th July, 23rd July Round 2, 6th August round 3 (semi-final) 20th August round 4 (final). I have put an entry form on the notice board for you to register. This competition is limited to 16 teams, the concept of the competition is Men’s 4 ball – better ball Match play on Handicap, entries close on Sunday 25th June, the team consists of two players 1 x Senior (0-12 handicap) 1 x Junior (13-24 handicap) based on course handicap for white tees as at 25th June 2017. All matches to be played from tees of the day, using course handicap in force on that day. All members have to do is arrange own partners, draw for 1st round opponents. 1st round to be played on or before Sunday 9th July 2017 by mutual agreement of both sides and then with 2 weekly play – by dates thereafter. If the level of interest is sufficient, the event MAY be expanded to 32 teams.

Please make an effort and register your team this weekend!!!.

Attached is information on Professional Coaching sessions with PGA Member Brad Carter at our course, if there is enough interest – it will start on Saturday 8th July at 12pm – 1.30pm, please register with Brad or shop/office.

Carts are still restricted to Members only on the course, thanks to you all for your consideration on not driving on any of the Fairways. I did hear that a cart was driven on Sunday by two members who obviously were not aware of the RULE, even though it is on the windscreen of all carts – and mentioned the last three weeks in the BLOB – NO EXCUSES!!!! I won’t name and shame, but if a member can-not adhere to the rules – they will be not be allowed a cart.

Tomorrow Saturday 17th June, all our Interclub teams are playing, so the course is closed until about lunchtime, they are teeing off #1, #10, and #14 at 8.30am. Members are more than welcome to come up to the clubrooms at lunchtime to join in the celebrations of our teams awesome results in their Interclub Divisions.

Tomorrow I have a Cash Raffle $5.00 a ticket for $150.00, 50 tickets only, please remember to bring $5.00 along to buy a ticket, it will be drawn in the clubrooms when the teams come in.

Roaring Forties will be starting up again in July – the last fundraiser paid for, seating outside cart shed, kitset tables upstairs outside on balcony, boxing mesh for carpark and concrete outside the shop/office, driveway cleaned and swept, flags plus floodlights outside. Plus we are in the middle of having the flag pole painted and buying materials to have it placed stable in the ground.

A couple of items that need our attention are a few areas on course where the steps are slippery in the winter and we need to purchase some sort of material to stop golfers slipping on them, plus the office/shop needs a new heat pump, it would be great to get the carpark cleaned and swept again in the summer.

I will be asking all members that are in the Roaring Forties if they want their allocated number over the weekend. The cost would be $10.00 a week, or $100 for the 10 weeks. Winning Lotto Bonus Number of the night will get $100, either side of the number will get $50.00. We bring in $4000.00, $2000.00 in prizes and $2000.00 profit. It would be great to have your support.

It is great to see Daniel Hillier leading the table before today’s final round in the 2017 Junior World Cup being played in Japan. Plus the New Zealand side is coming 3rd. Awesome Effort after 3 rounds.

Congratulations to the Finalists in Matchplay Champs we have Craig Wilkins playing Leigeon Tumataroa for the Senior Title fight, Vance Plumridge playing Dion Codyre for the Intermediate Challenge, Dave Anderson playing Brett Keno for the Junior Battle, and for the ladies we have Ange Walsh playing Jan Tomlinson for the Bronze Contest. Good Luck to you all, plus congratulations to the players in the Semi-Finals that lost I heard some games were very close – maybe next year!! (my smiley face).

All members will be playing off #10 from 7.25 to 8.34, then 8.42 to 9.30 will be teeing off #1, 11.10 till the late afternoon everyone will be teeing off #10, for some of those older members (my smiley face) teeing off #10 at 11.30am remember to bring warm clothing, by the time you finish on the #1-#9 side the sun has gone and it’s a bit chilly late afternoon, So please when you arrive check the start sheet to see if you are teeing off #1 or #10. The Champion Finalists will be teeing off #1 at 8.00am and playing 36 holes.

Monday 26th June we are hosting the Senior Men – course is closed until late afternoon.

Morning everyone,

Another lovely day up here, a bit chilly.

Winner of the $50,00 raffle was Dave Anderson, Kerry Baines and Clive Dunstan – congratulations to you all.

Great news Our Te Marua Division 2 Interclub Men’s team took out 1st place with Boulcott beating Paraparaumu on Saturday.

Men’s Interclub is the best result our club has had with three teams finishing 1st and 1 finishing 3rd, plus we can’t forget our Women’s Interclub finishing first also in the Mary Penrose Salver, first year for this Trophy and very fitting that Te Marua was the first to win it – Our Mashies Team is half way through their competition and placed second. Again congratulations to you all!!!! You are AWE-INSPIRING!!!!

Saturday 17th June all Men’s and Women’s Interclub teams will be playing here teeing off at 8.30am #1 and #10, please come up and join them in the celebration of their achievements for a job “Well Done” in their remarkable placings in their divisions.

WOW!!!! What about our Women’s team who played in the National Teams Event that was played at Te Marua on the 12th May, we hosted about 30 team from Wellington Clubs competing for the best of the best, and OUR TEAM came first equal, sadly due to a countback they were regulated to second place, what a tremendous effort from Chrissy Doughty, Ange Walsh, Mary Penrose and Carole Medway – what a wonderful achievement – just AMAZING!!!!

Start Sheet for Saturday 3rd June is now open for you to book!!

Porirua Club has sent a lovely letter to our club expressing their thanks for great service and accommodating them with a Marshall to explain where carts could and could not go, thanks to Jim Walsh for coming up early to explain to cart drivers the rules about the carts, and also keeping an eye on them to make sure they observed the rules, they were very thankful for the attention that was given to them plus to top the day off their meals from the café/bar were very tasty and filling.

Hired Carts will only be hired to Club Members until further notice. Rules for carts are still NO CARTS ALLOWED ON ANY OF THE FAIRWAYS, PLEASE DRIVE ON THE HIGH SIDE OF THE ROUGH, DO NO DRIVE ACROSS ANY FAIRWAY – I know for some of you this is a struggle, but we can’t expect the Green-Keepers to work hard on our Golf Course to have it looking and playing great for members, then for members not to do their bit to protect the course, we really need some wind to help dry the course out, and strangely enough we have not had any.

We have heard lovely comments about the course over the past months from visitors and golfers from other clubs, not only have we been complimented on the speed of the greens but also tranquillity and beauty of the course. As a member it is your job to look after your course by repairing divots by replacing and firmly stamping down the turf, repair all ball marks/pitch marks on the greens, keep trundlers off greens and tees. Thank you to all members that do this – you are true CARETAKERS of the club!!!

A Big AWESOME Thank You to all Cart Users for heeding to the new rules of the carts – the committee applaud your consideration. It has not gone unnoticed your effort to drive to the environments of the course.

Shifting of the Flag Pole is being organized and should be up shortly. Nigel Messenger is at the moment working on it by digging a deeper hole, he said so the pole doesn’t fall over and hit someone on the head, it better not fall over because it will hit my (or Di’s) car!!!!

A Big Thank You must go out to our committee who have certainly been pro-active, a lot of behind the scenes work has been going on, thanks also to the Mid-Week Men for their support around the club. You are all AWESOME!!!!

Welcome to new member Graham McPherson.

What’s on this week:-

Morning everyone,

Beautiful up here today.

Carts only 10-18, Chipping Green in play not #15 for Friday – back to normal on Saturday.

Welcome to our new members Richard Turner, Rob Wright, Dallas Whale, Jason Mokalei-Smith, Clive Allen, Bob Clouston, and Rob Rogers, I am sure our current members will make you feel very welcome to our Club and if any queries please do not hesitate to contact the office staff.

All members that operate carts please note – No carts allowed on any of the fairways, please drive on the high side of the rough, do not drive across any FAIRWAY!!!

Great results from our Interclub teams this year, Division 10 and 5 won their divisions, Division 2 is leading but depending on the results from two teams playing Saturday which will confirm their placing, (oh Sam, you are the Captain and you missed a three foot putt for ½ a point, that ½ would of made it a bit harder for Paraparaumu this week) Division 7 came from 5th to 3rd by beating Carterton 12-3, overall an AWESOME result from the Men’s Interclub.

Te Marua Men’s Interclub teams will be playing here on Saturday 17th June at 8.30 teeing off #10 and #1, with no doubt a lunch and few jubilation drinks afterwards, feel free to come along to congratulate the members of the teams.

Winner of the $50.00 – Yah finally me – thanks Tania for pulling Number 12 out!!!

Monday 26th June course will be closed for Seniors Tournament until the afternoon. (Reserve day Monday 3rd July).

Please take note during the winter months (June, July, August) the office hours over the weekend are shortened if the weather is bad and no-one is booked on course. So you are not disappointed please ring first to see if there is attendance if specifically calling in to the office/shop.

From Match Committee!!

1. Hazard pegs- #4 and #5 – The pegs around the pond on #4 are marking the pond as a hazard. The area to the right of the pond is ROUGH – for a ball lost in the pond, drop another at or behind the point of entry. For a ball lost in the ROUGH, play another ball from the original position (e.g. #4 tee).
The pegs on the LEFT SIDE of the 4th Blue Tee block mark a hazard area which [in theory] only comes into play for the 5th hole. It is separate from the pond hazard on the 4th hole.
All of which means the area between the bottom of the path in front of the 4th Tee along to the pond on the 4th hole IS NOT HAZARD.
Apparently some of our number have been lining up the Red pegs at the end of both those area and deeming the area between them as hazard – that is incorrect – that area is ROUGH.

2. The temporary / practice / chipping green beside #18. By now everyone should be aware that this green is our emergency green. Consequently, please look after it. This request is aimed particularly at those who play longer range shots into the green and leave it full of ball marks. You are free / entitiled / welcome to make full use of that green, but you are entrusted with making sure you leave it in a better state than you found it. Thank you.

3. Course Records – After some serious thought, discussion and consideration, the Committee has agreed that, effective 1st June 2017, scores for rounds played at Te Marua and bettering the current course record will be recognised even if placing is/was available, in any form. If the record score is achieved when placing is available, the record will be noted accordingly.

What’s on this week:

Morning everyone,

Lovely up here today.

We have had some great comments on our beautiful course the last few days – Great work greenkeepers.

The Ladies Mary Alward/Tuakana Interclub team had a great win last weekend 10-2, Amie said this was their biggest win in the last three years, and for it to be against a good Judgeford side was really pleasing. The best comment of the day came from Theresa who mentioned “It was a game of two halves” Amie wasn’t sure what that meant as Theresa won her singles 8/7 which was a very impressive win!! Their next Round will be at Te Marua against Shandon. – Well Done Ladies!!!!

This Friday 12th May we are hosting the 2017 Women’s National Districts Finals, we have 60 Ladies in this competition teeing off #1, #10, #14 at 9.00am. Members can tee off #1 for a quick nine if wanting an early morning game, tee times will be available to members from 12 onwards.

Mary Penrose Salver played against Carterton at Carterton last Saturday and won 6-3 AWESOME LADIES they are now 1 ½ points ahead of Masterton, their last game is on Monday 15th March at Te Marua. – Good Luck Ladies

This Saturday 13th May we are hosting the Mary Alward/Tuakana teeing off at 8.00am, then we have Mashies teeing off at 9.10am Shotgun start, so there will be no available tee times for members until late afternoon. This would be a good opportunity for members to get their bonus cards to play at Shandon or Judgeford for free.

Have you got your membership card?? If not please ask at the office to see if your card has arrived!!!

Matchplay Championship Round 2 is on Sunday 14th May for the Men and Women.

What’s on this week:

Afternoon everyone,

Fine but cloudy up here today.

Good Luck to everyone who made the cut for the MatchPlay Championships Round 1. Please take note that from 8.00am to 9.14am Matchplay Participants will be teeing off #1, all club members will be teeing off #10.

Men’s 2017 Strokeplay Championship winner for the Intermediate grade is PAUL HENLEY ( 344), he had a playoff against Jim Walsh (also on 344), congratulations to you both!!!

Winner of the Fay Jones Trophy for the Women was Jan Tomlinson with 37 Stableford points – congratulations!

Te Marua members that are playing in the 2017 National Teams Event on the 12th May are Chrissy Doughty, Ange Walsh, Carole Medway, Mary Penrose, Audrey Messenger and Joanne Carson. – Good Luck Ladies.

Are there any members out there that are available for an hour in the morning to help as starters for the above event???, tee off time is 9.00am.

Winner of the $50.00 raffle was Chris Herbert and Gary Jackson – congratulations

The second supply of membership cards have arrived please make sure you pick them up this weekend.

Please remember everyone that uses a cart and puts it away when the office is closed, it is members responsibility to put the CHARGER IN, please think about members that have booked to hire them out the next day, if it is not CHARGED it cannot be used. It is a Privilege for members to use them outside the office hours – don’t spoil it for others and have this privilege provoked. This has only happen a few times, but the few times I have had all carts booked the next day which is embarrassing for staff to try and juggle who gets a cart because someone didn’t charge it from the night before.

Zane Wilkins had an enjoyable time at the New Zealand Maori Nationals last week, he won his first game which put him into the second round, he lost his second and didn’t get to go through to the top 4, he made the second group of top 16, not bad with over 300 entries. Great effort Zane!!!

Roaring Forties has purchased two NZ Flags this week.

Division 2 played Mornington at Te Marua and won 14-1, player of the day was the TEAM, except for Sam Iraia who only got ½ a point in singles, plus ½ in four ball, hence the 1 point Mornington got, this puts Division 2 to the top of the Division, it’s a good job they didn’t follow their captains example (Sam) – congratulations team – Awesome effort!!!

I’m pretty sure during Saturday I was told Division 10 won, Division 5 won, both these teams are leading their Divisions, plus Division 7 lost. Gosh we are really smashing the leadership board in some of our Divisions for men and women, congratulation to all teams, win or lose – you are pretty AWESOME!!!!

What’s on this week:-

Morning everyone,

Finally – no rain, beautiful up here today.

Status of the course for the weekend is:

We had no flooding – so compliments to the awesome team behind the river work that was done, twice now we have had heavy rain with great results of no flooding.

We however like most areas in the Valley had a lot of surface water, once it stopped raining it drained very quickly.

Please REMEMBER greenkeepers do NOT mow in the rain, not only is this dangerous but against Health and Safety regulations.

So if you find the grass a little long tomorrow – please don’t come in the office and tell me!!

Saturday -OPEN for 18 holes, CARTS for top nine only, #2 is unplayable (too much surface water) so will be played on the Chipping Green.

Sunday – same as above – but carts for 18 holes for members only.

Winner of the $50.00 was Ray Randle. – congratulations

Thanks to Vance Plumridge (and team) for building the fence. You are AWESOME!!!

Division 5 had another great win away from home on the 25th March at Karori beating them 8.5 to 6.5. Te Marua now has a 12 point lead at the top of the table. Birthday boy Luke Holford got muppet of the day and Mark Jones player of the day with an outstanding 10 – 8 win. He was 1 under after 9 holes and shot 73. – AWESOME GUYS!!!!

Division 2 played Paraparaumu on the 25th March at home (Te Marua) and won 9 -6 AWESOME Win. Congratulations to Clinton Codyre who had 6 birdies on his way to winning his singles match 6 – 5.

Division 7 had to struggle with having Allan Old in their team who was teeing off #4, drove his ball onto the Ladies tee, the group was a bit unsure who Allan was playing for – Div 7 or the Ladies Mary Alward Interclub team.

Hello everyone

As you will be well aware, the weather today, Saturday 11th March, has been very very wet. Two of the 3 interclub teams matches were abandoned because the greens became unplayable.

The forecast for tomorrow (Sunday 12th ) is not much better so there is a high likelihood that the course / greens may remain unplayable.

Greens are defined as unplayable when there are no places where you can take line-of-putt relief from water pooling on the green’s surface.

At this moment, we are still open tomorrow, but if the rain continues overnight we may need to close the course.

If it is raining tomorrow and you still want to play, please call us before you make the trip (so that you don’t get here to find the course has been closed).

If we do need to close the course, we will send out an e-mail to that effect and soon also update the TMGC website Course Status

Afternoon everyone,

Just beautiful up here today, last day of the NZ/Australian Officers Tournament, it’s been a very busy few days, so this week’s newsletter will be short and sweet.

Thanks for your consideration while we have had this tournament on course. We have had some lovely comments about our course and great food.

Our Condolences go out to two Club Members that have lost their brothers last week, just know we are thinking of you, plus all members that are unwell or going though heartache of their own.

Iris Cottle had heart surgery the week before last, she is doing great and came home on the 17.2.17, she is staying with her daughter for a couple of weeks, you are more than welcome to go around to her house to visit.

Afternoon everyone,

Raining up here today, probably a good idea to stay home and watch the cricket later.

Our thoughts go out to Ian Jepson who had a slight heart attack recently. – Get better soon!!!

Winner of the $50.00 raffle was Peter Cunningham and Tony Birtwistle.

Last Saturday the Ladies played the second round of Mary Alward/Tuakana – they had a tough away match at Judgeford as it always is, especially with a very technical opening 6 – 7 holes that Judgeford has. The team played well in the loss 8.5-3.5. Audrey was the player of the day winning her singles and combining well with Theresa to also win the four ball. Chrissy certainly had a very tough match with her opponent posting the low score on the day and well under her handicap. The team has the bye in round 3, with the next match away at Shandon on the 11th March. Great effort Ladies!!!

Good Luck to all our Interclub teams tomorrow.

On Wednesday 22nd February to Friday 24th February we are hosting the New Zealand, Australia Prison Officers Golf Champs, the course will be closed until late afternoon, they will be teeing off at 9.30am each morning, 2 tee start, there is about 150 in this tournament from around New Zealand and Australia. If you are wanting to come up for a game please ring the office/shop, they will be able to let you know what time the course will be free when they see the draw.

Saturday 18th February we have one Interclub team playing at Te Marua teeing off #1 at 8.00am, then the course is available for bookings to 12.30pm, we are hosting a group of about 36 teeing off #1 and #10.

Sunday 19th February you will all get to play for the James Mayer Trophy, this is 4BBB Stableford, when you come in to print your card ADD A PARTNER BEFORE PRINTING. This Competition is usually played the opening day, but with the terrible summer we have been having plus other Competitions, Sunday is the first free Club Day we have been able to play for this Trophy.

Monday 20th February – course available all day.

Tuesday 21st February Mid-Week men, 9 hole.

Wednesday – Friday Closed till late afternoon.

Everyone have a wonderful weekend.

Morning everyone,

Unbelievable  – Frost up here at 6.30 this morning.

The course is open for 18 holes as normal, carts can be used top and bottom.

Clubrooms closed this Saturday and Sunday due to a bereavement.

Good Luck to all our Interclub Teams on Saturday and Monday.

Big thank you to the Green-keepers who have been very busy this week cleaning up the course – you are AWESOME!!!!

You would of all noticed by now that the 1st of the groynes in #1 have been completed.  We are now waiting for top soil to tidy up the track that was left by the trucks.  This is not  quick fix, it is a mammoth task for the green-keepers.

Is there any volunteers to paint the out of bounds and hazard pegs????? we have the paint and brushes.

I am disappointed that we have only got 1 Interclub report from Division 10 (thanks Andrew). 2nd round they played at Judgeford and lost 9 -6, not bad for an away game, Individuals wins were by Jamie Ryland, Mick Dearmer, Dave Anderson and Bruce Hay.

Teams Twilight started last night, we have 6 teams, if any members are keen for  nine holes on a Thursday night, prizes and a meal for $12.00,  one team will be short with players away overseas for two weeks – anyone keen to fill in????

Roaring Forties had its last draw last Saturday and winners were  ME $200 (FINALLY) Kim Cottrell $100, Chris Brooks $100. Thanks to everyone that participated in this fundraiser.   The money raised will be going towards  – removing and resituating of the flag poles, new club flags, (decent ones) replacing broken trellis outside shop, shading for upstairs balcony and the clean and sweep of the drive way which was done before Christmas.

I hear that Nigel Messenger got another hole in one on the 11th at Napier Golf Club, he even made it into the February Pacific Golfer Magazine, it is Nigel’s 4th hole in one. – Congratulations!

Competitions for last Sunday were all done manually due to the fact some members played the top nine twice for the 18, then when the bottom nine was opened up later in the morning some played top and bottom.  I had to delete all members that paid for the Cossie Club Shootout, this competition couldn’t be calculated on the Sunday with the option of doing top nine twice or playing the full course 18.  I have a list of everyone that paid the $1.00 so this weekend those members can enter the shootout but won’t be charged for it.  At the moment we are looking into officially having in our system playing 9 holes twice to be calculated for competitions, if 9 holes on the course is unplayable for the future.

What’s on this week:-

Saturday – course available all day.

Sunday – Club Day – Strokeplay Championship RD1, Mayer Kean Cup RD1, Don Hazlett Cup RD1, (open to club members male and female under 23) Summer Cup RD3  for the men, Summer Trays for the ladies.

Monday – We are hosting Ladies Interclub  Mary Penrose Salver, teeing off at 9.30, 2 tee start, at 9.30am.

Tuesday – MW Men.

Wednesday – MW Ladies.

Thursday MW Men, Teams Twilight.  Clubrooms closed for the day for a private function.

Friday – course available all day.

Everyone have a great weekend.

BLOB 3rd Feb 2017

Morning everyone,

COURSE AND OFFICE/SHOP IS CLOSED FRIDAY AND SATURDAY  –  the course needs these days to recover from all the heavy rain we had last night.  Sunday we will be open and #10 – #18 will be playable,  #15 is played from the chipping green.  The damage is very minor, but we just need some fine weather  to dry the course out.  Carts are allowed for the top nine on Sunday.   Dave Sully has recommended that Mid-Week Men might want to play elsewhere on the Tuesday.

For the next few days the additional local rule will be  “PLACING THROUGH THE GREEN’

Winner of the $50.00 raffle was Mike Burrowes.

Congratulations to Jamie Ryland who got a hole in 1 on the 14th January on #2.

Are any members keen to play in the Teams Twilight starting on the 9th February??? This is a shotgun start at 5.45, 6 rounds, played each Thursday,  $100.00 a team, ($25.00 per person) prizes after each round, and if wanting a meal the cost will be $12.00.  We only have 6 teams.

I am sure there are plenty of members out there that would love to play 9 holes, in the beautiful summer hot evenings and have some fun.  If you can’t get a team together, I’m sure we can make a team if you let me know if you are interested.

Our Interclub Teams started their competition last Saturday – Division 10 played Ohariu Valley at Te Marua and won 14-1 – the “1” belongs to pairs Four ball Brian Cockburn and Mick Dearmer – what a great start for the competition.

Division 5 played Karori at Te Marua and won 12 ½  – 2 ½ ,  Mark Jones was player of the day with a 6-5 win. Paul Henley  was the muppet  of the day.  The team Captain said he is happy with the results, sets the season up well.

Division 7 played away at Judgeford and lost 6-9, a pretty good result for an away game.

Women’s Weekend Interclub Update – Amie Clisby.

Very pleasing first round by the Women’s MAT team on Saturday with a 8-4 win over BHFGC,  Considering most of the team were giving at least six shots to their respective opponents it was an impressive win; with the only two losses decided on the 18th hole, some very consistent golf was played by the team.  Most important than the results is that everyone in the team enjoyed the day and the challenge of Match Play.  The feedback from the BHFGC team suggests that the return match in April should be equally as enjoyable and competitive.  Player of the day goes to Kerry Baines for the biggest win of the day 5/3 – well done Kerry!!

The “what was I thinking” moment probably goes to me for a conversation on the 14th with my opponent, who was having their first ever Interclub match, the benefit of playing conservatively when the opponent finds themselves in trouble.  Using this information my opponent then ran me down and left me scrambling for a ½ on the 18th.  Next match Saturday 11th February at Judgeford.

Winner of the Summer Eclectics was Audrey Messenger with 70.7 net; Runner Up was Jo Carson with a 71.35 net;

Weekend Eclectics starts on Saturday and runs until Closing Day.  Cost is $2 which is paid in the shop, make sure you enter your best score on each hole on Saturday and Sunday’s on the chart in the ladies locker room.

Sunday 5th February and Wednesday 8th February is the first round of LGU and Putts.  LGU is a medal round and your best 4 rounds are entered in the competition for the Silver and Bronze LGU badges which are sent to us each year from NZ Golf.

There is a trophy at the end of the year for the least number of putts (weekend players) so remember to count your putts.

On Monday Waitangi Day men are playing for the Hui Ngaparu Trophy, and women are playing for the Lil Parkin Trophy, I have set up Twos and Mixed Stableford for the day also.

The Summer Cup round 3 has been moved from this Sunday the 5th February to the 12th February for the men.

On Sunday the Opening Day James Maher Trays was not played – this was going to be played this Sunday, but due to the fact the course is open for 9 holes only, it will now be played on Sunday the 12th February.

For this competition you just pick a partner, when you come in and print your card, the competition is set up for you to add your partner at the same time before printing your card,  Cost is $2.50 each person.

Our Mashies team is playing Boulcott at Trentham on Saturday the 11th February, the team picked for the first game is Andrew Hamilton, Alex Ross, Roger Gee, Greg Judd, Meka Boynton, Dale Burns, Keith Morris, Sam Mclean, John Cooper and Lloyd Bonner, please all members confirm your availability to John Cooper.  Thanks to all members that got back to me to put your name forward as a player or reserve.

Don’t  forget we are hosting the North Island Golf Safari arriving in 27 motorhomes at our course on Tuesday afternoon, the visitors will be playing golf on Wednesday morning, the carpark will be vacated by Wednesday afternoon.

Thanks to Ian Jepson for suppling and cutting the mats for the shop/office – it was very much appreciated.

Everyone have a wonderful long safe weekend.

Regards Sonia

Afternoon everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and New Year.

Interclub starts tomorrow – Good Luck to all our teams.

Have you got your Interclub shirt???

We need more players for our 2017 Mashie Team – this starts on the 11th February, one game a month – 10 rounds – on a Saturday playing at various clubs in the Wellington Region, finishing on the 14th October. If your handicap is 16 and over and you are interested in playing or just being a reserve for the odd game please let me know – we need to be able to field a team on Saturday 11th February.

On Monday 30th January we are hosting the Senior Tournament – course will be closed until late afternoon.

Business House Twilight had its final round of golf last night, due to the terrible weather last year (and this year) they were unable to complete Round 6 , I will update you with the results next week.

Teams Twilight starts this Thursday 2nd February, 5,45pm SHOT GUN start, it is $100.00 per team, (four) format is Matchplay on Stableford, round robin (6 rounds)

A Big Thank you to Peter Gallen for organizing the draws and etc. for the Twilight again.

Mr Jim Walsh has been very busy organising the trucks, diggers and everything else with the placing of Groynes, rain caused havoc for the scheduled operation on the 16th January, hopefully with better weather forecast for the coming week the placing of the first Groyne should be well on its way for completion. – dam weather!!!!! I’m sure all Club Members appreciate the hours of diligent work that committee have prepared for this Hugh expensive undertaking.

Has anyone got a vacuum cleaner they do not want, please let me know, our shop cleaner has broken and in for repairs, it really is on its last legs, just let me know or surprise me!!!!

On Tuesday 7th February in the afternoon our club will be hosting the Lower North Golf Safari, this group will be arriving in the late afternoon in 27 Motorhomes, they will be parked in the carpark for the night, then the next morning at 8.30am will be playing 18 holes, after their game they will go upstairs for coffee and etc., after lunch they will then travel to the next golf course. I have arranged with the coordinator to have the motorhomes park from the entrance gate fence line, so it leaves enough room for club members to park down towards the clubrooms. I have explained our Mid-Week Men play on the Tuesday and usually finish about 3 – 3.30pm, giving them a guide line when carpark will be vacated. Hopefully this will not be an inconvenience to club members, if you are coming up to play golf on the Tuesday late afternoon just park down by the Clubrooms.

Roaring Forties has its final draw on Saturday 4th February, please make sure you are all paid up before the final draw. I would like to thank all participants for this fundraising venture.

We have got a lot done round the club, I hope you are all happy with what you see. You would of noticed the driveway was swept and cleaned before the Masters, Andrew Curry arranged this for me for a nice cash deal – thanks Andrew, the next items on the participants WISH LIST are new entrance mats for the shop, shading for clubrooms balcony, and new decent flags, and broken trellis replaced outside the shop. All of these jobs are in the process of being done, we have a quote already for the shading, fixtures and labour, and the flag poles are going to be moved so we can put up new flags that won’t get ripped by the trees. The tables we purchased are still upstairs on the clubrooms balcony – being used as often as weather permits.

The Roaring Forties Club is now is recess for three months!!!!

What’ on this Week:-

Saturday – Interclub – tee times available from 10.30am onwards.
