Next Sunday, 24th May, the 2026 Club Match Play Championship FINALS, the premier event in our Club programme of competitions, will be played.
The Finals comprise 5 one-on-one matches, played in separate groups of 2 players, to find the Champion for each of the 5 divisions (Men’s Senior, Intermediate and Junior divisions and the Women’s Silver and Bronze divisions).
Each match is a Best of 36 Holes contest which necessitates adjustments to the Start Sheet for Sunday 24th to allow the second 18 holes to merge with the schedule of club members bookings – your acceptance and co-operation is appreciated.
IMPORTANT POINTS about Start Sheet Changes:
- All Championship Finals matches will start from #1
- All players other than the Finalists will start from #10 (for the whole day).
- Start times for recurring bookings down to 9:25am are unchanged
- Recurring bookings for times FROM 9 :33am to 11:20 have been pushed back by up to 1 hour to create a gap in the field starting from #10 AND also to avoid players who start on #10 arriving at #1 in the midst of the Championship matches beginning their second 18-holes on #1 around 12:00 – 12:40
- IF bad weather gets in the way on 24th May, the reserve day is Sunday 7th June (because the 31st is King’s Birthday weekend).
Options for multi-tee start (e.g. #1, #10, #14) were considered but with the number of players booked for Sunday (90+), and the requirement to accommodate the 36-hole Match Play Finals, the likelihood of significant back-ups at the cross-over points is high.
Better to know your start time is different for this week rather than experience lengthy delays during the round.
At this point in time there are a number of spaces available with existing 2 or 3 person groups starting from #10 earlier than 9:33am so if you are impacted by the push back you may wish to consider moving to one of those times.
Thanks again for your co-operation and understanding.
