2022 Masters champions. Anthony Ilton-Maher, Greg Idour, Mike Smith, Teisa Vaka, Amanda Cox

Men’s Champion Anthony Ilton-Maher shot a 70 to finish on 283, 1 under for the 4 days. Dominic Hazeldine shot 71 to finish on 288. Next was .Owen Lloyd in third on 292. Cruize Wawatai and John Potts 4th equal on 297

Teisa Vaka shot 312 to win be the Women’s Masters champion from Alanah Braybrook on 333. Maryanne Gray was third on 352. to move into third on 179.

The Men’s Intermediate division was won by Greg Idour, on 326 from Jordan Wilson and Chris Hislop on 334.Jayden Wellington shot a 79 on the last day to sneak into 4th on 335 from Tony Hawes on 338.

In the Women’s 2nd division Amanda Cox on 355 won comfortably from Kerry Baines on 363 . Christine Doughty (was third on third on 384.

Mike Smith won the Mens junior division with an 84 on the last day to shoot 355 form Chris Herbert on 356. Stephen Quinn took 3rd on 361 followed on 364 by Dewald Pieterse, Jason Rangiuia and Carl Perry.

Day three Moving day-

Some moved in, some moved, out and some complained about the neighbours.

Anthony Ilton-Maher (213) shot a 75 but still holds a 4 shot lead over Dominic Hazeldine who shot 72 to move into second on 217. Owen Lloyd shot 78 to be in third on 219. Cruize Wawatai equaled the low round of the day with 72 and sits fourth on 224 , one shot clear of Oli Newman who shot 77 today. 16 shots cover the top 10.

Greg Idour, the early favourite in the Intermediate men found form and shot 76 take a 6 shot lead (242) over Peter Gallen (83) into the last day. Tony Hawes (87) sits in third on 250 by 1 shot from Chris Hislop (85). Fifth equal on 252 is Chris Brooks (86) and Jordan Wilson (84). 14 shots cover the top 12.

In the mens Junior division Carl Perry shot 97 to move to a 6 shot lead over Chris Herbert (92) on 265. Jason Rangiuia (92)moved into third equal with Mike Smith (94) on 271. Steve Quinn with a (91) moved back into 5th on 272.

In womens div 1 Teisa Vaka shot another sub 80 round (79) now holds a 20 shot lead over Alanah Braybrook (86) on 253. Amie Clisby shot 85 to move into a share of third with Maryanne Gray (86) on 235.

In the Women’s 2nd division Amanda Cox (95) on 268 continues to hold a 2 shot lead over Kerry Baines (95) . Christine Doughty (93) sits in third on 287.

Day two – improvement day

Anthony Ilton-Maher backed up day one with a 70 to maintain a shot a 3 shot lead over Owen Lloyd who also shot 70. Dominic Hazeldine shot 71 to move into third on 145 and Dion Bennet shot 72 to move into 4th equal on 147 with Oli Newman who shot 74. harry Ward shot 72 to move into 6th on 150.

Tony Hawes had a break out day with a 79 to take the lead in the Intermediate division on 163, two shots clear of Peter Gallen who shot 80 and Chris Hislop who shot 82. Mel Philip shot a 79 to go to 166 in a tie with Greg Idour (80) and Chris brooks (85).

In the mens Junior division Carl Perry shot 90 to share the lead with Chris Herbert (92) on 173.In third place is Dewald Pieterse (88) on 176 one shot clear of Mike Smith (90) on 177. Jason Rangiuia shot the low round for the juniors (87) to move into fifth on 179.

Teisa Vaka shot another 77 to lead the women’s top division by 13 shots from Alanah Braybrook (86) on 167. Maryanne Gray shot 92 to move into third on 179.

Amanda Cox shot 86 today to sneak past Kerry Baines (91) into a 2 shot lead on 173. Christine Doughty sits in third on 194.

Tomorrow is moving day and on the moving theme a wise man said, todays last line should be.

Day one is done. How did it go ?

In the Men’s senior division, Anthony Ilton-Maher from Foxton shot a 3 under 68 to hold a 3 shot lead over local and last years winner Owen Lloyd. In third on 73 is Oli Newman from Royal Wellington and Cruize Wawatai from Judgeford and Dominic Hazeldine from Royal Wellington round out the top 5 on 74.

In the Mens intermediate division Te Marua club captain Chris Brooks shares the lead with a two times winner of this division, Vito Sione from Trentham, on 81. Chris Hislop a Junior winner and Patrick O’Callahan from Te Marua are third on 83, followed by Tiri Subritzky and Tony Hawes both from Te Marua and Jordan Wilson all the way from Harewood on 84.

The Men’s Junior division is lead by Chris Herbert from Te Marua who had such an outstanding round he is 19th overall and would be leading the Intermediates. His 81 gives him a 2 shot lead over Carl Perry also from Te Marua. The venerable Steve Quinn and Mike Smith share 3rd on 87 with Dewald Pieterse from Hutt Park in 5th on 88.

The Women’s division is a small field but the quality is still there. Teisa Vaka from Shandon leads on a 77 from Alanah Braybrook from Boulcotts Farm on 81. Alanah is a former te Marua member and a Wellington rep. In third place is Maryanne Gray from Wainuiomata on 87 with Karen Cain from Hawkes Bay in 4th on 90.

Kerry Baines on 84 leads the Women’s 2nd division from Amanda Cox from Boulcotts Farm on 87. Carol Lightfoot and Christine Doughty share 3rd on 99.

The course is in great condition , the weather is good, the expectations are high but to win you have to play some good shots and the least amount of bad shots.

Who is coming ?

The men’s senior division looks very competitive. Headed by Cruize Wawatai and Harry Ward both on plus 2, and last years champion Owen Lloyd on plus 1 on his home track. Dion Bennet on 0 from Judgeford then Oli Newman and Anthony Ilton-Maher (Foxton) on 1 followed by Dominic Hazeldine who started his golf here only 3 or 4 years ago. Next on 3 are Paul Hartley, Corey Clark and Craig and Zane Wilkins who both learnt the game here. So four of the top 10 have local knowledge. Will it make a difference. Lets see after day 1.

The top three in the Women’s division are Alannah Braybrook, Teisa Vaka and Amie Clisby.

The split for the men’s Intermediate division is set at 9.5 to 15.4 being a 10-15 handicaps off the blue tees and the top 20 are all on 12 or less. This is going to be a tougher grade than the seniors. The top 10 in handicap index order, Greg Idour, Jasper Low, Jordan Wilson, Jayden Wellington. Anthony Jefferson, Sam Iraia, Sam Jiang, Chris Brooks, Chris Hislop George Wang.

The mens junior division is 16 up and the top 10 is Carl Perry, Ray Kahui, Mike Smith, Terry Hession, Chris Herbert, Phil Cox, Jason Robinson, Jason Ranganui, Steve Quinn, Andrew Black.
