Afternoon Members,

In light of the Covid 19 a lot of organized golf events have now been put on hold – office staff will try to let you know of these events as soon as they come in. The WGRA has decided to put Level 1 Rules Course planned for the 19th April and Level 2 planned for the 7th June on hold until the Covid-19 situation is resolved. Plus the Women’s National Teams Champion District Final has now been cancelled for the year. The Feilding mixed 9 Plus 9 Golf Tournament has been cancelled also. I suggest to members if you have registered for any away tournaments contact the organizers to see if they are still going ahead.

Te Marua Golf is still operating in line with the advice issued by Wellington Golf and the NZ Ministry of Health – The course is open to play subject to those who are unwell or have recently travelled overseas not coming to golf. I also understand that this is an anxious time for some members, as staff we are doing our bit my cleaning most items that are touched in the shop/office by members and visitors hourly, you will notice small things like the flags not being put out on the putting green and etc – these recommendations have been in line with NZ Golf concepts.

Message from Peter Gallen who organizers the Twilight for us each year, thank-you Pete for an enjoyable six weeks:-

To PAK ’n SAVE Upper Hutt we have to say a big Thank You for sponsoring this year’s Summer twilight.

And a big Thank You too to our 19th Haven Caterers and their team, for the delicious after-match meals.

The golfing side of things took the same form as the pre-Christmas Business House Twilight – a competition for teams, a TWILIGHT FOR TEAMS event.

The priority was fun – for golfers of all levels. The weather gods were very kind to us – 6 weeks of brilliant Thursday evening weather !

For each of the 6 weeks played, the 3 best Stableford scores for the team was what mattered.

The top 2 teams for that week were awarded prizes supplied by our sponsor, PAK’nSAVE.

The other teams…………..well…..they just had to take it on the chin and vow to do better next time J

We did also take note of the individual stableford scores each week, best and worst, but there is no need to expand on that information here.

Each team’s scores were accumulated over the 6 rounds and the final result from a field of 9 teams was

1st Taka 356
2nd Chemically Enhanced 341

Congrats to Team Taka (Shannon, Mark, James & TK) who have said they will be returning to defend their title in our next Twilight for Teams event.

And well done to Team Chemically Enhanced – a good runner up finish with their base team of Mike, Bernie, John & Kerry.

Other team scores (not in any order and not necessarily for 6 rounds) were

Shankers & Scoopers 335
Triple G 330
Select 318
Gumboot 338
Darren’s Destroyers 281
Constructables 276
PAK’nSAVE 278

We look forward to seeing you all back next spring/summer for the next round of Te Marua Golf Club’s Twilight events.

To everyone involved in the event – Players, Spectators, Caterers, Sponsors, Organizers – Thank You for your support of this event.

You all helped make it another successful Te Marua Golf Club production.
