BLOB

Morning everyone,

Good Luck to all our Interclub teams playing on Saturday.

Thanks to Chris Brooks and Allan Fayen for working Saturday setting up the short course, plus Allan Old for doing all the bins, and to any other volunteer that has helped out.

Below is the Teams Twilight results by Pete Gallen – sponsored by Pak N Save

The 2019 Teams Twilight competition, a best-3-scores stableford competition for teams of up to 4 players per round was played over 6 rounds from January 31st to March 7th, with an extra bonus round on 14th March. (Teams can field different players each week, at their discretion)

PAK ‘n SAVE Upper Hutt sponsored the event, enabling us to give out some tasty prizes – Thank you PAK ‘n SAVE.

And special thanks to Sonia, chief co-ordinator and organiser and of course to our 19th Haven Caterers for delivering a great range of delightfully tasty meals after each round of the competition.

This year, the Teams Twilight event was played in the same format as the pre-Christmas Business House Twilight competition – a 6-round competition, 1 round per week on a Thursday evening. Competition format is stableford with results calculated using the best 3 stableford scores returned by the team’s players. (Previous years have been Teams of 4 Matchplay format but with 2018 failing to get sufficient teams, this alternative was introduced for 2019 and by all accounts was well supported with 9 teams in the field)

After 6 weeks of intense and very close competition, The 2019 Teams Twilight Champions, with a 6-round team total of 361 S/F points are the Constructables (Ian Sherwin, Gary Sherwin, Blake Cunningham, Jack Sherwin – and reserve/ring-in for 1 week, Blake Redmond)

Two teams, Professionals (Peter Roberts, George Pene, Tony Hill, Dennis Cook – and 3-time reserve/ring-in Jason McKenzie) and Bogeymen (John Eggleton, Brett Archibald, Craig Butler, Rick Lister – and 1 time reserve/ring-in, John West) finished time with 352 points.

On countback, using the last round (R6) team score as the separation factor, 2nd place goes to Bogeymen (60 S/F points in R6) and 3rd place to Professionals (57 S/F points in R6)

So congratulations to Constructables, 2019 Teams Twilight Champions.

And thanks to all teams and players who, by supporting this event, helped make it a very positive and enjoyable experience.

Put November 2019 in your calendar, come up with a team name and start your recruitment drive to build a team for the Business House Twilight competition (which is not restricted to formal business entities – think of it as ……….an opportunity to make golf your business for 6 weeks of Thursday evenings )

Plus a report from Greg Judd

Hi all

A big thanks to Dave Edhouse for stepping in at the last minute last Saturday.

Soooo…we improved our results by 100% & still took a 6 – 9 loss. The good news is that we are NOT on the bottom of the table. Things can only get better from here!!

We have our next round on the 6th of April at Pauatahanui. 8.30am for a 9.00am start. They have limited parking, so let’s carpool if we can.

Please advise asap if you are available.

Thanks

Captain (not so) Fantastic

Greg
