Mens 2018 Matchplay Championships – Provisional Seedings

Interclub Results:

It was a great redemption match after losing 13-2 the previous round to Otaki, Division 4 won 14.5 –0. 5 at home against Otaki, total aggerate 16.5 – 13.5 victory to Te Marua. Division 4 has come up the ladder from 5th to 2nd place half a point behind Judgeford, it’s looking like it could be down to the final round when they play Judgeford at home. Their little blue friend was put away for safe keeping for another week – as no one lost their game!! Player of the day went to Mark Jones with a 7/6 win – congratulations guys!!!!

Divisions 1 had a win at home and 8 ½ points in the bag – a positive effort against Waikanae, a team very closely matched to them as evidenced by the results of both their matches – 7 points at their home course, 8 ½ at ours ( giving them a 2 point victory overall – (but no Trophies for that one).
An emphatic 4-ball 5/4 win to Leigeon & Jamie, accompanied by 4/3 and 2-up singles wins. Warwick did the business, also with a 4/3 victory and with Ian’s assistance, a 3/1 win in their 4-ball.
All the other matches were close, going down to the last couple of holes and an even share of wins and losses between the 2 teams.

Great fightback by their stand-in Wayne [Turner-Burner] at #10, 5 down after 9, came back to be playing the 18th to halve the match – but it wasn’t to be.
Their second stand-in, Ray Johnstone, was handed a tough challenge being played at #6, a task proving too difficult handing him a 3/5 loss.
And it has to be mentioned……Pete had his first win ! Yes you heard right a WIN (The question now is………..will it continue….??)

With 6 rounds under their belt the competition to stay in division 1 for 2019 is close with only 3 points separating the bottom 4 teams – 40.5 to 43.5. Carterton leads on 51.5 ahead of Miramar by 2.5.
Currently placed 5th with 42.5 their goal has to be to do their best to stay in Division 1 so they can take their experience into 2019. The next round is at home against Shandon and then 3 away……..Let’s Do It !!

Under a sombre looking, grey Kapiti sky our Mashies Team embarked on the mission to make amends for their whipping at Ohariu. Through intermittent showers and recently cored greens the conditions were average at the best, excuses aside things did not go well and they got thrashed. Well done to Keith Morris who won his match for 1 of the 1.5 points they took from the day. Sadly it is pretty disappointing for any team in the Wellington region to play Interclub on any recently cored greens.

Division 9 Won 8 -7 away at Boulcott, players of the day were Jayden Wellington winning 9/8 and Mal Wellington winning 6/5- congratulations guys!!

Division 7 Won convincingly 14 ½ – ½ beating Paraparaumu at Te Marua- Robert McIntyre got the ½ point, player of the day was Jamie Gray – congratulations guys!!!!

Congratulations to the Ladies Weekday Pennants Team who bet Martinborough 6 – 3 at Royal Wellington on Monday. – Awesome Ladies!!!!
