BLOB

Afternoon everyone, a bit chilly and cloudy up here today.

Nearly that time, Te Marua Masters time – here is the entry form: 2016 TOURNAMENT ENTRY FORM

Winner of the $50.00 this week was Alastair Corbett, Michael Baines and JD.

Congratulations to Peter Cunningham who got a HOLE IN 1 on Thursday 20th October on #15. I just heard Dave Sully say it’s an unofficial Rule that the Greenkeepers get a chocolate cake from everyone that gets a Hole In #1,” ah” what about office staff???

Thank you to Jim Walsh and Chris Herbert for helping greenkeepers with the coring.- AWESOME!!!

Thanks also to Jim Walsh and Nigel Messenger who spent all day Thursday relining the walls of both carts sheds – you guys are AWESOME!!! I wonder who will be the first person to put a hole in the wall – if you do you will have to fix it yourself!!!!!

Roaring Forties Lotto draw is on the first Saturday of the Month which will be the 5th November.

Diplomats v Te Marua is on the 4th November – registration form in office/shop.

As most of you know we have the Barbeque Tables we fundraised through the Roaring Forties stored in the Tournament room, they can’t be put out until we have arranged to have concrete pads put down to secure them, and make it easier for the greenkeepers to mow, I thought until this is organized we will put them upstairs in the Clubrooms for outside seating, the next item on the “to buy” list is outside seating in the Clubrooms. I would rather see them being used in the meantime until some kind club member can boxed out 2 concrete pads for us.

River Erosion Repair:

I can report GREAT news, we have secured $80K for the repair of the banks of Number #1, we are still waiting on one more trust application to confirm. Early in the month a site meeting had been held with GWRC, Dixon and Dunlop who is the main contractor and GBC Winstone who will supply the rock to site.

The repair to the banks on Number 1 in front of the Totara trees will see three rock groynes built and tree planting along the banks through January and February 2017

Chris Brooks

This is AWESOME news, congratulations to everyone involved in attaining the monies for this project, I know how much, hard work it has been, I am positive all members of the club are very grateful for your diligence in seeking grants and groundwork with contractors for a wonderful affordable outcome.

It is pretty AWESOME to see a lot of club members helping out around the course, getting some jobs done, it really feels like a club when we all band together and help out when/where we can, this vibe has been noticed by a lot of members. We appreciated your assistance very much.

2016 TOURNAMENT ENTRY FORM

AGM is on Monday 5th December – if you are interested in your Club, and how you want it to go forward – be there – have a say!!!!!!

It is great for greens recovery if you don’t mark your ball this weekend, just quickly putt it out, on and off the greens as soon as possible this weekend, walking around “thinking” makes for a slow process in recovery. Then the following weekend they will be AWESOME!!. – Thanks to our Greenkeepers who have worked very hard, some long hours during coring to make sure our greens recover quickly. AWESOME GUYS!!!!!
