Morning everyone, light showers today, if you not scared of a bit of rain, come on up for a game.

We will be having YELLOW tees for this Sunday, it has been a while since the last one, a number of members are keen to see how they will go with their scoring on Yellow, as there are no competitions on Sunday it is a perfect opportunity to play yellow. Weather is meant to be good, so will be interesting to see what scores you all have.

Thanks for everyone that supported the monster raffle, I will draw this on Sunday in the clubrooms.

Roaring Forties Winners on Saturday were Topi Wirihana 34 $100, Wayne Bach 33 $50.00, Steve Quinn $50.00.

Last draw this Saturday everyone – Good Luck.

Quite a few want the Roaring Forties to keep going, so I have decided to change the concept a bit. The first Saturday of each month – starting from the 1st October, if your number is the bonus number you get $200, each side of the bonus number gets $100, it will cost you $20.00 a month, $800.00 coming in, $400.00 going out in prizes. I will ask all partakers that have their numbers if they want to be in it, half have already indicated that they are keen. So I will touch base with you all over the weekend. Thanks to all that have supported this fundraising, our tables are not far away from being delivered, and Dave Sully is going to get in touch with Upper Hutt Ready Mix about the uneven concrete in the drive way which we are still waiting for a quote, I have has four quotes for this job that range from $2000 to $3000, I will touch base with Chris Brooks about the Security lightening that needs to be done. If anyone has any more ideas about what the club needs, or something that needs to be fixed just flick me an e-mail or let me know. Once again Roaring Forties Members are all AWESOME !!!!

Great news for Te Marua that former Junior member and 36 hole Interclub player Luke O’Sullivan is off to Europe to try to get his European professional card, Luke has been located at Royal Sydney where he has been a professional trainee. We wish him all the best of Luck!!

On Friday the 9th September we are hosting the Diplomats and Defence again, they tee off at 12, shotgun start, can the Lunchtime group please tee off #1 between 11.30 and 11.50am,

And if any member is wanting to play Friday, come early morning for you 18, so you are finished by 12.00pm.

PRACTICE AREAS are NOT free – They cost money and time to maintain .

So please do your part to reduce those costs by making sure you tidy up your divots and fix any ball marks / pitch marks on the greens.

The practice area and green beside the 18th is particularly suffering from lack of care.

And that is a worry because it is our emergency / backup green should another green get damaged and become unusable.

I’m not just thinking about flood damage – other natural hazards are out there….rabbits, Pukeko and more recently DEER !!

We are largely at the mercy of Mother Nature when it comes to course damage – hopefully she will be kind to us.

Meantime, please do your bit and help keep ALL of your course in fabulous condition !

Pete Gallen.

Match Convenor – and Local Rules facilitator.

A p.s. on the topic of Local Rules…..

Before you know it, we will be back into a NO PLACING environment, so please spread the word and encourage everyone to do a good job with divot repairs – everywhere !

Please contact office if you are wanting to hire a locker, cost is $20.00, plus $10.00 for a key to get access.

Firewood for next season is $80.00 a trailer load, if keen contact Gina or office.

We have had a lot of wonderful compliments about our course from visitors, thanks to the Green-keepers who do a tremendous job.

Welcome to our new members Roydon Wynne, Blake Taylor-Menzies, Tony Shelley, Garth Farmer, Jenene and John Moynihan, Ivan Omitrieff, Steve Needham, Danny Anderson, Amy and Gary Wilson, Kevin Smith, Clark Porter, Owen Howes, Dale Burns, Russell Anderson, and Horng Chwan, I am positive all current members will make you feel very welcome to our wonderful club, and if you have any queries please contact the shop/office, all staff would be more than happy to help.
