The BLOB – 14th May 2016

Afternoon everyone,

I was in the middle of sending out this week’s Blob, then we had a power cut and I lost everything, so I will try to cover briefly what I wrote, so if you find any mistakes I don’t want to know about it.

The Men’s Intermediate Strokeplay Championship playoff, held last weekend (8th May), was contested by Iain MacDonald and Peter Stone who had both scored 333 (Gross score) over the 72 Holes (4 x 18-hole rounds).
Congratulations to Peter who with an 87 took the 2016 Men’s Intermediate Strokeplay Champion  title by 2 strokes from Iain who returned an 89.  Well played both of you

Congratulations too to Paul Hammond who got a hole on 1 on #9 on Sunday 8th May.

And more congratulations – this time to Paddy Martin and Joanne Carson winners of the $50.00 cash raffle this week !!

Thanks to Di and Gail for doing my shifts while I was on holiday, plus doing Katy’s allocated shifts.  We all hope Katy has a speedy recovery and see her back at work soon.

Roaring Forties winners last Saturday were Rob McIntyre 27 – $100.00, Meka Boynton 26 – $50.00, Steve Dearns 28 – $50.00.  Saturday was the 10th and last round of the Roaring Forties, I still have to collect $800.00 from unpaid participants, once this has been collected we will have a total profit of $2000.00, with pay outs being $2000.00.  We are in the process of getting quotes from suppliers, plus looking at other sporting venues to get an idea of low maintenance barbeque tables, plus seating for the front of the cart shed.  I would like to thank you all for your support and congratulate all winners.

Quite a few members in the Roaring Forties would like to carry on with another round, so I will touch base with you over the next few weekends to see if all keen, then maybe we can start it next month, I’m sure we can find something that needs replacing or repairing around our course. Once again you are all AWESOME !!!!

Good Luck to all our Match-play Champs participants, some interesting results.

Great to see most of our Interclub teams are doing so well, there a few sitting in second place at the moment, but I know depending on the next few weeks second could become first or fourth – so good luck teams, make that home game a win!!! – Just heard that our Interclub B1 won 9 ½ – 5 ½ against Miramar.

I noticed we have two club members that made it on to face book page being videoed chasing around 19 bulls in Upper Hutt the other night – congratulations to Erica and Luke Wood you both did an amazing job.  I must admit I did have a little giggle.

Great to see Carol Jackson, Joanne Carson and Fay Turner back to playing golf after being away for a while.

Sad to hear while I have been away that a couple of club members have lost loved one – our thoughts are with you.

Please remember everyone with the winter months approaching us the shop\office will have shorter hours in the weekend if the weather is bad, there is no point in staff being here all day  if no-one is booked on the course and it is raining.

Welcome to new Club Members, please contact the shop\office if you have any queries, I’m sure our members will make you most welcome to our wonderful club.

We have a SALE on in the shop, some items have 40 and 60% markdowns.  COME IN AND SHOP FOR A BARGAIN.

Has anyone LOST, a Kathmandu Sweatshirt, sun glasses, neo bushells range finder, black reading glasses, plus black reading glasses in a Ray Ban case, ASB  f/pos card ???? Let me know if any of these items are yours.
