All membership cards have arrived, please pick up from Shop/office.

Winners of the $50.00 raffle were Rodger Hough (again) and Peter Stewart.

Paul Henley got a HOLE IN 1 on #11 on the 2nd April  – congratulations

Winner of the Ambassador’s Cup played on Sunday 3rd April was Greg Judd, Runner-up Michael Van Der Vegt. – congratulations.

Roaring Forties winners this week were Kim Cottrell 30 $100, ME 31 $50.00, Ray Johnstone 29 $50.00 – congratulations –  Good Luck to everyone this week.

As I will be away on holiday, I will leave the paying out of winnings to Di, we are up to week 5 this Saturday.   If you are going to bring in any money to pay for your Roaring Forties please put your name on it as I have a spread sheet which is updated each week.  I will catch up with most of you this weekend to nag you for your money, also to pay out previous winners.

Division B3 played at Te Marua on Saturday and they performed well taking 10 ½ points off Miramar who were comfortably winning the grade.  Winning players were Zane Wilkins, Lance Davies, Brian Cockburn, Mick Dearmer, Brett Keno and Dean Alexander.  Andrew Black shared a 4 ball win with Brett, plus Dave Anderson shared a 4 ball win with  Dean.  Top scores on the day were Zane Wilkins 78 and Brian Cockburn 82, pretty good for Brian considering he lost one of his contact lenses before the game!!!

Our A3 team played here also losing 10 ½ – 4 ½ .  The one bright spot of the game was Paul Henley getting a hole in 1, also player of the day. Blake Redmond received the comical prize of the day – for the biggest loss.

Are you all aware Gimmies are never allowed under the Rules of Golf.  Gimmies are not the same as “given” or “conceded” putts.  In Match Play, and only in Match Play, an opponent can “give” or concede” a putt to you, allowing you to pick up without holing out.

However a “gimmie” is a putt that you request be conceded, as in, “Will you give me that one?” (hence the term” gimmie”).  Conceded putts in match play must be conceded by an opponent entirely on their own, without prompting.

In Stroke Play, neither gimmies nor conceded putts are allowed under the rules.

One of the first rules of golf, Rule 1-1 – states that the ball must be played until it is in the hole.  The only exception to that is for conceded putts in match play.

NO GIMMIES ALLOWED UNDER THE RULES.

Bruce Hay, Mark Bramwell and Tony Cooper you have prizes from Halberg Day to pick up from the shop/office.

We hosted the Seniors on Monday, it was a great day and full field, compliments must go to the Green-Keepers staff, once again we had positive comments on our course, these comments have been displayed by many members and visitors the past several months, so thank you on the wonderful job you all do.  YOU ARE ALL AWESOME, BUT IT WILL TAKE SOME UNDERTAKING TO CATCH UP WITH THE OFFICE STAFF’S AWESOMENESS!!!!! (my new word).

It was great to see a few Club Members from the Mid-Week Men that have been sick the past several months back to playing golf on Tuesday.

In the shop I have a sale of 40% off Women’s summer tops.  You will be please to know the winter stock has arrived, remember anything you see and it is not in your size just let staff know and they will put it on the Order List.  Wet Weather gear is here, where you can purchase the suits, or just trousers and jackets separately.

RAKE the bunkers, REPAIR your divots  –  thank you
